My cravings and how I actually tried to deal with it for once.

Anyone who knows me knows I love a lot of things. One of the big things I love is food. Some of my favorite foods are healthy, like pomegranates, and some of them...well...they're not.
I'm a chocoholic--like big time. Especially when I am stressed [hello, college], and I keep emergency chocolate for when I'm having a bad day. But I don't eat one piece. I eat a whole bar. Maybe two. Maybe three (okay, that was only once). Anyway, I have never been able to limit my chocolate intake. Or sweets in general. Last spring when I gave up sweets for Lent...most miserable time in my life.

Anyway, so finals are coming up and I have this craving for the mint chocolate Blue Bunny ice cream they sell on campus and I bought it. The one with ooey gooey fudge swirls in it! And I ate--some of it! I had a few spoonfuls and then my stomach got upset and I stopped. Big deal!
Food Product
I'm hoping this whole "eating relatively healthy" thing is doing its job. I kick my butt so hard while exercising there's no point in me exercising if it's just going to cancel out with sweets and stuff. This will be hard to execute on Friday--I'm going to my favorite Mexican restaurant!

Wish me luck.

The Best of C-U: Food Edition

Champaign-Urbana-- my home for nine months, now. It may seem a little like it's in the middle of corn fields [well, it kind of is...] but the food on and off the UIUC campus is pretty amazing. Just thought I would share my picks for the best of the best!

Best Dorm Food: Field of Greens Stir Fry

I literally planned my Wednesday schedule for next semester around stir fry. That's how much I love it. Every Wednesday, LAR's Field of Greens offers make-your-own vegetarian stir fry. PAR offers stir fry with meat every day, but I prefer this. The guy that cooks your stir fry makes his own "Chef Illini" sauce, and it's always something to look forward to.

Best Coffee: Cafe Paradiso

I might be a little on the biased side for this one; my friend's family owns the joint. Espresso Royale has a monopoly on most of the campus, but it's more expensive than even Starbucks, so I don't really go there. I am trying not to get addicted to coffee so I don't drink many fancy beverages in general, but I find Paradiso to be much more charming and off-the-beaten path.

Joanna's Gastronomic Adventures

I've been cooking so much more than sewing, and food is so wonderful to photograph!

Lasagna. Good lasagna.

This weekend I threw together my own brand of breakfast omlette, which was surprisingly good (I'm not much of an egg kind of gal). The more flavors that counteract the egg, the better!

I also made cherry pie today. No time for fresh filling, but the canned stuff brings back all the tastes of my childhood! I hope it's yummyyummy.

nomnomnom.
I might actually be kind of good at this!
